Quarantine Update

Image
I swear this is hubby. No fevers of anyone on days 3,4,5, and 6. Just coughing. The boy became upset about coughing. He was mad he was showing symptoms but his display was the mildest of all in this home. I did find a new toy- called shopping online and curbside pickup. I was able to pick up Christmas gifts, food, and electronics.  The 24th was crazy outside despite the rising number of coronavirus infections but I was still in and out with the curbside pick-up. Target and Best Buy did an amazing job! Christmas    Despite being inside and coughing, we had a great Christmas! There were no restaurants open so we could not have food delivered as we usually do on Christmas in the city. (This is also our first Christmas in the house since we delayed moving last year until the New Year so technically the first holiday celebrated in the house may have been MLK day. The kids were pretty happy with their gifts. So, Christmas was what I could think of to eat. So, I have no t...

COVID Quarantine Day 2

Image
I awoke to bright light. My daughter turned on my closet light. She crawled into my bed to sleep near me. I felt her soft skin only to reveal that she was on fire. She was very warm to the touch. I sat up and her cheeks were rosy from the high fever. Somehow, the crunchy mama doc came alive. I grabbed my essential oils and castor oil in the bathroom ad rubbed her feet down. I grabbed three pairs of socks that she rarely wears with her cozy warm socks as the last layer. I ran very cold water on the base (infant) socks and placed the base socks on first over her greasy feet. I added the other two pairs of socks. I gave her Tylenol only after I took her temperature: 102.3- she was lightly shaking in my arms. I stayed calm and removed her shirt, grabbed a few blankets and removed my shirt, and laid her on top of me with four layers of blankets. I assumed an hour went by when she began to move around a bit. "Mommy, I'm hot! I want to get out!" I assured her that she had a ve...

COVID- Let the challenge begin!

Image
On 12/22/21 (which I discovered is a palindrome day) I was getting ready for work for my birthday. I had my food neatly stowed in my bag. Then, my phone rings and it is our operations manager at the attached surgery center. I had 10 different scenarios in my mind of what the phone conversation would be.  tech: "Doctor, I just want to say, ' Happy Birthday' and 'You tested positive for COVID. The tests came back.'" I was waiting for that response. After two negative tests took two days prior to my positive test and hearing from people I interacted with over the weekend, I was pretty sure I had it but did not display any symptoms. I dropped everything and told my husband. I almost forgot my scrubs were hung up. Breakfast- oatmeal with blueberries, pecans, Honeysuckle, and Astragulus tea. End the meal with monolaurin.  I got into some regular clothes and took a walk. It was interesting because I have not had the opportunity to go for a walk in a while. Where is ...

The Marathon for Thanksgiving

Image
Yeah, my Thanksgiving is not looking like this. . .at all! As I am sure that yours may not look like this, either. So, in attempts to not have my type-A side, exposed I made a list of what will be on the menu. The Vegan meal list Everything is accounted for with the exception of the kale. Last year, I went big! Mostly because it was our last Thanksgiving in the house, 10 years since I became vegetarian, 10 years since hubby made a turkey on his own, pandemic. It was big! Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, dressing, greens, cornbread and a roast from Trader Joe's, I believe. Have you planned your meal yet?

Busy Update

So, I have had no intent and less time for blogging which is why I have been MIA. I would like to plan further and locate reliable sources and links but between learning languages, working a second side job, being present in the life of the family, working out, eating well, and reading books I have been slightly neglectful of my duties with this blog. So, this blog will be more reflective and a chance to sit down and find out what I am up to. Sorry, it became about me and not bringing out information. Weekend Prayers and Bible I have attempted to dedicate more time to prayer and reading the Bible. This is an attempt to calm down as I am back angry again. I know that staying angry, not eating well. There are many books in the Bible that we as Christians do not read as often. How many people do you know quoting the book of Jude? (that is a Christian) Also, I had a patient who is Muslim and I have learned so much about Islam and how it truly is a parallel religion from my own. It als...

How to Make and Enjoy My Gold Coffee

Image
 * Disclaimer*  I am not referring to Golden Coffee, an actual form of brew of coffee that is lighter and less acidic than standard black coffee. This is highly recommended for people who suffer from GERD or  IBS. Also, I should include in this disclaimer if you suffer from GERD or another IBS I would not recommend you make this. You could alter the ingredients as ginger can be an irritant.  Ahhh, that is better. Ok troops! I am always posting about my beautiful "golden coffee" on IG. ( If you are following me, you know I am always posting on there and not on here. So, I am still going to make an attempt to do my best. No promises though!) So, here is the "tee" on my coffee. The Ingredients Coffee- coffea arabica , This ingredient is widely cultivated and used especially in industrious first-world countries like where I am located in the United States. I am referring to the standard coffee as there are now variants. While pregnant with both my little ones, I enjoyed...

Been So Long! Updated Post

Image
Yup, pretty much this week and the last three months So, I will try to make my updated post as clear and positive as possible. I have been working- a LOT!!! We went through one nanny but with two parents working 45 minutes away from home- that can put a lot on someone. So, I leave home at 7AM and get home around 7PM. Once home, I have my cases and they have come in larger numbers. I have slowed down doing them because I get tired being on the computer so much. The good thing with work? While seeing how the patients are doing I am stretching and exercising along with them. I am, apparently, a big ball of energy and no one truly believes my age. Really? Forty-one year old women are not supposed to move like this? OK.  The highs and lows of attempting a vegan diet are better with planning. If I make my meals in the beginning of the week I have salads for the week and that helps a lot. I notice the salads and soups are quite energizing and I can even go, go, go with minimal slee...
