Death, and Rebirth

This season has been something! With the loss of my aunt and grandmother through the fall season I can't lie and say that it has been easy. It has not but this is also a time of thankfulness and letting all know that we are in a season. While I was mourning loss after loss, there have been celebrations of births as two of the in-laws have celebrated births in the month of October and my cousin who left this Earth in June now is a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl. Also, I think about her often and how this year has been an even greater emotional dump as she has lost her mother, her great-uncle, her great-grandmother, and her grandmother all in one year. By my aunt's funeral, I think we were all emotionally exhausted but still trying to maneuver in a world where they do not exist. Because they were close to my mother, it feels like I lost her again. There have been times when I am going to cry which is usually not the case with me as I can put my emotions in check but this i...

A Few of My Favorite Things

Image
*note- advertisements may be included in this post* It is the holiday season and nothing says, "after Thanksgiving" like buying a bunch of stuff and then paying it off until June if you are clever. Here are some items that I am gagging for: Zacro Adult Bike Helmet Lightweight - Bike Helmet for Men Women Comfort with Pads&Visor, Certified Bicycle Helmet for Adults Youth Mountain Road Biker Because our youngest is now riding her bike. . . a lot. We have to keep up with her. Also, I want to get to work a little faster at times and don't want to drive so grabbing Serene and hitting the trails is something that I would like to do again. Steal my ideas! I do not mind! Today, this is only $23 dollars so get it because I probably will! ASICS Women's Gel-Contend 7 Running Shoes I would like to try ASICS and it is always nice to have a second pair of running shoes. I currently own a pair of Hoka shoes which are like running on marshmallows- so fun! But, I do get picked on ...

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month

Image
clicking on this picture will lead you to my clinic website if you haven't checked it out yet. *per AI* "That's correct! November is recognized as Diabetes Awareness Month, a time when various organizations and individuals raise awareness about diabetes, its prevention, management, and the challenges faced by people living with the condition. The goal is to educate the public about diabetes, promote early detection, and support efforts to find a cure. During this month, you may find various campaigns, events, and activities focused on increasing awareness of diabetes and its impact on individuals and communities. It's an opportunity to learn more about diabetes and take steps to improve your own health and support those affected by the condition." Diabetes has been in my life for most of my life. As a child, I learned much of what it was when I heard the horrible diagnosis hearing those three words regarding my niece: Type one Diabetes. She was only 16 months when...

When the Blog Highlights another Blog

Image
Now, if you are not new to this blog you know that I am currently working on another site which would include another blog because I like blogging but never have the time.  So, this is an extremely short entry as I am advertising my most recent blog post from my professional website.  https://www.jadeorchidwellness.com/post/where-are-the-centenarians-blue-zones As far as is life, it has been busy but I was not expecting for a flood of patients to come in as soon as I open my doors. It can be daunting at times but I am trying to work as best as I can to get all the information of my office out there to the public. Most of my day in the office consists of sending off emails both personal and professional, some graphics to add and learn into social media, may be some work for my remote position, and scheduling times when to head to some doctor's office.

Define JOY!! What Brings You Joy?

Image
Joy "a feeling of great pleasure and happiness." I have been wanting to look that up for a while. I was interviewed recently about this word and how I apply Joy and keep a joyful outlook. If you know me personally, I am a pretty happy person. I smile so much, I was nicknamed, "Cheeser" by a classmate because I "cheese" a lot. I always have a smile and a happy disposition. Where does that come from? Why am I like this? I say it is because I am blessed with a remarkable family and extended family but what about when there are dark sides to the family. Here is a video of me explaining what joy means to me for Linking All Women. Their website is below. Please check them out! They are an amazing organization all about wellness and mental health of our professionals. Click this link to see what brings me Joy. Linking All Women: https://www.linkingallwomen.com/ P.S.- I was not able to add the video on this blog. Sorry! Embrace Joy and Choose Happy Eclectic Lotus

20 Years of Southern Hummingbird

Image
Release Date April 2, 2002 Because Spotify is late, I just received word that this album is over 20 years old! Since I have been writing and speaking on health and chiropractic for a while, I figure this would be a fluff piece to distract me from the madness of my current life by reflecting on my younger life. This CD stayed in my three-disc stereo system while I was in college. I was emotional and rampant. I switched my major from Biology to English and was quite the flirt. 2002 was the year that I began taking Spanish and realized I was pretty good. I was working, traveling, and doing well in college as this was my fourth year of school and didn't quite want to graduate. I was also 2 years without living in the same state as my mother and had a great friend to spend my free moments with. We went to free Sunday sundays at McDonald's for a 29-cent cone. I went to the clubs on the weekend and some Thursdays in the city. I was a bit of a recluse at this time but the music from ...

Business busy? Let's go to Springfield and St. Louis!

Image
When in Business, I already knew it was not for the weak. Putting your skin in the game is really something. There have been some setbacks but I knew that was going to happen. I have been pretty positive about the whole thing until recently. I needed a boost in my morale. My children are on Spring Break so I did what any mom would do- I took my kids on vacation for three days. I also went and had my hair retwisted and treated myself to some vegan Mexican food: The next day we were off and running! We first stopped in Springfield, IL. Back in November 2019, prior to the pandemic, we took a family road trip to  Baton Rouge, LA  where we saw Louisiana's State Capital. It's a skyscraper! There was no one to give us a tour but I'm glad we walked around. The place was almost similar to an art deco feel. The elevator took you to the top floor and there in the top was a view of downtown Baton Rouge with the refineries in the distance and waterways. It was relaxing and peaceful ...
