Day Care Center v. Nanny

Image
I have noticed being on some of the mommy blogs that I may be one of the few bloggers that will be a working mom. I love working and making my own money plus it makes it much more feasable to have more income to put our child through private school, have a home, two fully functional vehicles, family vacations and the like. But that is in our case and no one else's. I could be a stay at home mom but I fear I may go crazy and yearn for adult attention like a vampire yearns for human blood! So, those who can not be around must see about other means to care for the young one. Here are my options: 1. My mother in law: as much as I would like to go ahead and take our little bundle of joy upstairs to bond and be close to his/her only living grandmother the fact is that she will be 74 years old. She raised seven kids so I am sure she would not want to be bothered with a little two and a half month old. That is my thought but I am not sure how she would take it. I hate to make it sound ...

Spiritual Love. . .within pregnancy

So, this is a bit of a mushy post. When I used to hear women shout about pregnancy I would kind of roll my eyes. From someone who has no kids and looking from the outside in you kind of get this thought of, "OK, you are adding to our already huge world population and you think you are closer to God and better than any other woman who has not had a child?" So, in some cases I was slightly offended when some accused me of being "selfish" because I didn't have any children. I never saw it as that. I always saw it as I know how to not bring a child into this world when I was not ready for kids and then screw their life up. Again, I didn't initially want children but instead of screaming into the universe what I didn't want I left it up to God to tell me what HE wants for me. So, daily I am adding oil or cream to my stomach and recently I have begun to feel interesting things. One side would be kind of hard and the other side would be soft. So, I moved the ...

Whole Foods in a Pregnancy and Update

Image
I did a prior post for healthy foods and I mentioned what I ate but not really. As I approach my 25th week of pregnancy I have to take a test that I am dreading. . . the glucose tolerance test. There have been some weeks where I have strayed and having a husband eating a standard American/Mexican American diet it becomes difficult. So, I have devised a sort of layout on this. I read one lady's blog as she stated she cared more about how she was decorating the nursery over what to eat and with me it is the opposite as we have not begun to even plan the nursery or a theme. I had no idea that it was that serious. . .honestly I didn't. (for a later post) So I have devised a "good day" eating plan that I have in comparison to what hubby eats. I hope you are ready for this! My Morning - drink 32 ounces of water before going to work - (first trimester) a bowl of quinoa porridge with cinnamon and Coconut Palm sugar adding raisins, chia seeds and almonds if they are availa...

Tiger Stripes

Image
At this point in the pregnancy, I have yet to acquire what we all dread. . .STRETCH MARKS! I always assume that when you are on your first pregnancy you don't get them. That is your "free pass" card. Also, because you are overly cautious about everything from staying away from more than 12 oz of fish to making sure you are getting your water from a reputable source. But, I did tell myself that I was going to fight stretch marks seeing that I got them when I dropped 30 pounds in college and right before I got married. (170lbs- 140lbs both times just about) So, my regimen began a little earlier than once I found out I was pregnant. Also, I have a ton of friends that are new mommies that have conquered the battle of the tiger stripes along the belly so I know there has to be hope. So, here are my top tips on how to decrease those marks that we have decided are so prideful. (I guess) 1. DRINK TONS OF WATER!!! Now, there is a ton of research out there telling how...
