Prep, plan and prepare- The Race to Birth

Image
I have been there before with the prep, plan and prepare for a smooth birth. I should know what to do. Somehow, I feel like a first time mom with my prepping. This is mostly due to the fact of my 3 1/2 week pre- hospital stay. So, here is my new timeline: This week: set up appointments with Ob/Gyn for the "just in case" time. Get addresses when birth announcements are sent out. ( this time, I might really do it.) Next week: Get hospital bag ready! Begin searching for music for playlist for birth. Time to work on my "post preggie pops" In two weeks: Prep for my gf's to visit and sprinkle me with a few needed items. Get more post partum items ready for me and "Baby II"! Hospital Bag   Checking out the lists that I see for hospital bags and I had to remember that I threw out all my "weekender" bags. No worries! JC Penney has a online $29 deals for some of their bags. If you live close to a JC Penney that is not closing it might be a goo...

Crunch Time!!! Third trimester GO!

Image
I am currently in the third trimester and believe me it is very much crunch time! As I was working like crazy up until six months I am now trying to catch up with everything! February was trying to make healthier meals and sticking to pre-natals and other vitamins. In January, I switched over to a different midwives group. February, I went into my seventh month with a little more energy as I have fully cleaned out the apartment but not divided up the room and sent many of my son's clothes as well as my own for charity. March is proving to be also a little difficult. Why so difficult? Well, my body has totally taken over and I will go to sleep without my knowledge. I will sleep ANYWHERE, ANYTIME without thought. This is not good as I have been slime'd by my 3 year old son, buried in paper, colored on, food put on me and so on and so forth. Not to mention he has his bouts where he wants me to play with him and he yells for me to wake up. ( May be I should have thought thi...

Belly Wrapping While Pregnant, Stir Fry Foods and All Crazy Pregnancy Things!

Image
How flawless is she with twins? I'm struggling with this one! Hello, hello! So much has occurred such as me just now getting into the third trimester! I must admit it has been somewhat a hard pregnancy but then as I discovered many around me are "rocking the winter bump." it has been some what of a shock and some have not had it as easy as I have so I stopped complaining. So, I am trying to jump back into embracing my body and the fact that I am producing life. . .for a second time. I can say that my hormones have got the best of me in ways I will not describe. So, here are some items that I have gathered. Belly Wrapping    Wait, I don't have to put my wrap away until the baby gets here? Sure don't. Just found out about this because I really want to do belly binding after having this whopping baby. So, I just found out about it today and here is what I gathered about belly wrapping. 1. Diastasis recti- the separating of the ligaments that give you t...

A Suitable Substitute

Image
I needed a coffee substitute! I could totally give up coffee in my first pregnancy but this one as we already know is remarkably diverse from the last. I actually gave up coffee twice and as I was giving it up I was looking for "Dandy Blend" which is a coffee substitute made with roasted dandelion root. Picture provided by  Dandy Blend Website Dandelion root is great for digestion which when you are in your first trimester and having horrible constipation is the best.  Not going into the full research for the matter but how I knew this was tapping into my Naturopathic student mind without all the stress of thinking of papers and pop quizzes that I knew about but forgot. ( That was a rough year but I would do it again!) After a while, I then began to think about Pero, which is a coffee subsitute with rye, chicory and barley. 100% caffeine free. Photo provided by  InterNatural Foods I bought this at Whole Foods for $8.99, which is a lot for this but if you...

Dark Days of January

Image
As we are mid way of the dark days of January I can't help but wonder what is going on with the madness. As of January 31st I am to be without a job. . . not this again! It is truly making me wonder if being a chiropractor was what I should be doing in the first place. There just seems to be no end with the hiring and layoffs and being replaced with a younger, male chiropractor. As I am currently 6 months pregnant there is no way that I will be able to find another job unless I get a side gig and do some assistant jobs on the side to be able to subsdize my income. . .just until I get cleared by the doctor and midwives that I can go back to work after having my second little nugget of love. I don't blame this stroke of bad luck on this baby but I feel guilty that this baby is going to be born in this financial storm that is brewing. I know we will be alright as hubby is taking on more jobs in order to make more money for baby and what is going on with my son. Last year was ha...

But this time it is different

I sat down on the exam table with the insurance company putting me on hold. Frustrated with  billing and insurance, I waited to meet the midwife. She asked me about depression and I admitted that I was truly annoyed with being in the dark on the financial cost of pregnancy.  She asked me about back pain or abdominal pain but I just had the usual round ligament pain. I was dehydrated and needed to drink more water and to get two more tests done including the ultrasound. I missed it but only out of financial spite. Now, I wonder if I am causing harm to this baby. I never meant to be so careless this time around. I was so diligent and great with my first pregnancy and my son is a rock star! He is so intelligent and kind it is mind blowing. Now,  I still don't know the sex of  this  baby but I don't want to know.

37 and Angry

Tomorrow marks 37 years that I have been on this earth. I am also 5 months pregnant. I continue to get tired daily but I am still trying. I can remember the abundant energy I had when pregnant with my son. I also remember not having to fight with insurance. But, life goes on. I do want to make a note to let you know that many mommies make having a second and third child look so easy. It isn't. 1. Don't ask me what I am having!    I just hear it so much and it becomes annoying. But everything is annoying. 2.  Don't tell me what I am having!    Again, this is annoying. Very! 3. Don't tell me I am big!    I feel it everyday, I KNOW I AM BIG! 4. Don't tell me I am too old to have a baby.    Do you ever go up to teenagers and tell them they are way too young to have a baby? 5. Please don't touch my belly!!!    Many got away with that with my first. I ain't got time with this one. So, 37. . . bring it! I am ready for wh...
