Money Flows Like a River. . .

. . .or so they say. I am going to go with the former as I keep hoping beyond hope that we are doing the best of our ability to keep finances in check. So far so good! We are NOT in the red and I have yet to begin my writing conquest which means that we are doing well. I was a little nervous when buying my supplements as I can go a little overboard with buying them but choosing to get back online with my accounts seem to fare much better than when I was without. Memorial Day I purchased a grill and some utensils which came out pretty sweet because I didn't buy any meat except for a little skirt steak. I actually just cooked the meat that was in our freezer and we ate like royalty! Lamb, chicken, beef- the only thing I missed was the fish which I really wanted. Some Mexican rice which we keep here in the house but that is about it. I even made chicken shish ka bobs which really went well. Cooking has become a lot but when I do order food. . .it is ridiculous! That pregnant/nursing...

Can I Catch Up With My Own Life?

Wednesday was my first day at the new office. I felt different there. I felt like a real Chiropractic Physician. I had to capitalize it because I can not get over how different this place is from the prior place I worked at. It gave me the opportunity to learn just a little bit and to carry that over to this place but there are times where I feel like I really need to catch up with my own life. Driving yesterday I realized I was on the phone with my husband telling him about training thus far. I was also eating a sandwich with one hand missing my mouth terribly and hands free pumping all at the same time. Who is this person? Ten years prior I would have been in my convertible driving, putting on lipgloss in the mirror and jamming out to my music. Wait, scratch that I did not drive a convertible ten years ago. I was driving my car named Essie who we traded in for this newer model car. I think mentally I may still be a few years behind myself. I hope not because I have some work to l...

The First Day of the Rest of My Life

Image
My first day free and I am taking a selfie! Where do I begin. . . uh throughout my life one thing has been consistent and that is my desire to write. College was fun just because I was an English degree and I had to read books and write about them. . .SCORE!!!! I loved reading about the "new money" and "old money" of the book, "The Great Gatsby" or how hated a little black baby was in the 1950's in the book, "The Bluest Eye". I don't complain about paying off my undergrad school loans because they were worth it in the second half of school. I graduated from college and obtained writer's block. UGH!!!! The block was really that my father was sick and eventually passed away on a cold icy morning in very early January. So, I move to Chicago to obtain my creative mojo and what do I do? I do something I wanted to do but promised myself it was too expensive to do and that was go back to school and become a doctor. While I am happy tha...

Budget Through the Week

Since I am coming upon my last day at my full time job I have been a bit frantic but still trying to control my spending habits. Here are some things I have been doing to pinch the heck out of a penny: 1- Lunches to go! I will make a salad (which is super healthy anyway) and grab some veggies to snack on while I am at work. I would not have spent a dime on lunch but if I do it is roughly about $20 and it is for the assistants to buy themselves something and that is my tax write off. Hubby is doing the same thing and he loves the money he saves! 2- COOK FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! Since we eat at home more and have less take out I am sure I have saved about $70 a week! We used to have take out about four to five times a week.  Look at all that untapped cash we are saving! 3- Amazon Prime. With that we are not renting movies as much because there is free streaming on the computer. I am hoping soon we can shut off our cable and just keep the internet but every time I suggest that Hubb...

A New Chapter

With all of life's interesting bumps and nicks I am still smiling and laughing. Why? Because I know life will only get better and this is a part of living and you should be content with every single detail. I recently decided to take a job that was extremely part time. Although it means having less of an income it also means more time at home with my son who is getting so big and I can't even recognize it. I want to work from home also so I pray that a work from home job comes my way. Being a mom and a modern day woman I can make it work so I don't want to add fear in my heart. Sending the resignation letter to my boss made me ill in the stomach. Again, I don't want to get away from the money I am making but it has become too much to make it in the meantime. With my extremely modest salary I will have to make it work so the next set of entries will be on how to live the poor life. Marriages seem to work better and personalities shine when someone is strapped for fin...

Let Me Get a Good Sale! (and Other Things)

As of tomorrow my son will officially be five months. He is spirited! He loves to smile and laugh and loves being read to, sung to and allowing him to watch TV. What have I learned thus far? 1- If you see an outfit in his size for the next holiday- BUY IT!!! 2- Between you and your mate- you are the only one that thinks baby spit up smells like sour milk 3- Lights do not wake up a baby- blowing your nose does 4- Sometimes he just wants to be at the breast. Not hungry just wants to be at the breast and smile at you 5- Invest in a swing device. This will come in handy when you have to blog or do bills online 6- Babies don't like their nails clipped, they won't sit still for you to file them down, they cry when you bite them and yet if you leave them their face looks like they were playing with scissors. 7- Somethings you just have to let me and trust that when you are around they are getting quality that you want. 8- Going to work still sucks. Every part of your being wan...

Play Time With Bubs- Our delicate and delightful play time

Jonathan "reading" his indestructables book! Our son is currently 4 almost 5 months (19 weeks) and he is a jolly boy! He smiles, laughs, coo's and goes to just about anyone. Apparently this weekend he was a little handsy with the mom to be. He does have a problem with those little "claws" as we once in a while call him baby claws as he scratches my arms, daddy's neck but I never hear my mother-in-law complain about him scratching her. I am almost daily trying to remove those fingernails! Coming home to him from work has to be the best part of my day and the weekends I want to be home just cuddling with him! When we are home for the weekends we read to him and play with him. He seems to love peek a boo with daddy and mommy is pretty good at the story telling as he seems so enthralled with the voices and the pictures esp in the Dr. Seuss books I read. He used to have just "The Lorax" and now is the owner of that and "Green Eggs and Ham...
